Were It Not For Grace

Verse 1:
Time measured out my days – life carried me along—
In my heart I yearned to follow God,
But knew I’d never be so strong.
I looked around the world and surely Heaven cannot be gained.
People working to attain,
But human effort is all in vain.

Chorus:
Were it not for grace I can tell you where I’d be:
Wandering down some lonely road to nowhere with my salvation up to me.
I know how that would go – the battles I would face—
Forever running, but losing the race...
Were it not for grace.

Verse 2:
So here is all my praise – expressed with all my heart!
Offered to the Lord Who took my place
And ran the race I could not start.
And though He knew in full just how much His love would cost
He still walked that final mile to Calvary’s cross
So I would not be lost.

Chorus:
Were it not for grace I can tell you where I’d be:
Wandering down some lonely road to nowhere with my salvation up to me.
I know how that would go – the battles I would face—
Forever running, but losing the race...
Were it not for grace—
Forever running, but losing the race...
Were it not for grace.

  1. Wonderful blog! I know of a blog where a lady posts her own music to dowload, too. Perhaps one day the Lord will have someone (or you) put your music out there to listen to as well!
I love your poem, too! Keep shining!

  2. This is beautiful! I am a lover of music myself; but somehow poetry escapes me. I love others' though.

I would encourage you to put some kind of a "Copyright" notice on the sidebar.

  3. On the poems that I did write I post that they are copywrited on the individual post.
I did not write this song.
It is a very beautiful and very powerful song that honors the Lord.
Thank you for your kind words and the idea about the copywrite button - I will look into that! :)
    ~ God Bless!
